Be sure to check with your hotel to see if they offer a shuttle to and from the airport. This will be very convenient for you. There are water taxis available right from the airport to the Canals of Venice. There is also a regular bus service to get you to and from the airport to and from Piazzale Roma.
Treviso is becoming a popular landing point for Venice. It is further away than Marco Polo – almost 20 miles from the Lagoon. There is an ATVO Eurobus service right from outside the Airport in to Piazzale Roma. It will cost you less than €12 for a return ticket. Bus times coincide with aircraft arrivals and departure (be sure and get details of returning buses from Venice on your way in) and it takes about 1 and a half hours max.
Both Airports have car rental desks where you can pick up a car hire arranged over the internet.
